Brent Hazelwood, D.D.S.

Dr. Brent Hazlewood was born and raised in West Michigan. He earned his B.S. in biomedical science from the Frederik Meijer Honors College at Grand Valley State University. To fulfill a desire to serve his country, he joined the US Army Reserves while in undergrad. Dr. Hazlewood attended Detroit Mercy for dental school and earned his D.D.S.

Dr. Hazlewood’s quest for knowledge in the dental profession led to apply for and be accepted into the US Army’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, where he was ranked as the top resident out of eight. It was in this program that Dr. Hazlewood’s passion for endodontics began.

“Back in dental school endodontics was likely as terrifying to me as it was for most patients who were having the root canal performed. I kept with it after dental school under the excellent mentorship the Army offered and before long, I became more confident, comfortable and actually started to enjoyed it. When someone would see me and they were nervous and in pain, the chance to alleviate their anxiety and eliminate their pain provided me a sense of fulfilment I didn’t get in other areas of dentistry.”

Dr. Hazlewood would then formalize his endodontic training by completing Endodontic Residency, where he was again ranked 1st among his peers, was appointed as Chief Resident, and earned his specialty degree and M.S. in Endodontics. Dr. Hazlewood passed the American Academy of Endodontics written board examination and continues the long process of board certification by providing top quality work on complex and unique cases for submission. In total, Dr. Hazlewood completed 12 years of higher education and 6 years of practice prior to purchasing his dream practice, Holland Root Canal Specialists.

Prior to dental school, Brent married his wife, Brittany, also a West Michigan native. While serving in the Army, Brent and Brittany were blessed with one son, Keegan, and twin daughters, Avery and Kinsley. The “sixth member” of the family is their dog, Ollie.

Dr. Hazlewood says he has too many hobbies to list and jokes his hobby is collecting hobbies. Most of his time is spent enjoying life with Brittany, Keegan, Avery, Kinsley and their dog Ollie. His priorities are God, Family and Country. With these priorities guiding him, he strives to provide the highest quality and compassionate endodontic care to our community.
